An improved combined chair and stool apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a U-shaped member having a pair of leg portions defining the front legs of the apparatus, a pair of spaced support members extending between the front legs and secured thereto, and a pair of folding steps comprising upper and lower steps. A pair of spaced back legs are pivotally connected to the top step adjacent to the back edge of the top step for relative pivotal movement therebetween. A pair of spaced pivot links are pivotally connected at their opposite ends to the upper support member and to the back portion of the upper step. The lower step is pivotally attached at its front portion to the lower support member. A second pair of pivot links are pivotally connected to the top step and the bottom step. The second pair of pivot links are connected to the top step at a position forward the pivotal connection between the top step and the first pair of pivot links. The back legs are pivotally connected to their respective front legs at the ends of the back legs. |

When folded the step stool is self standing and has a narrow width to permit the step stool to be stored in otherwise unusable spaces. When the legs are extended, a stable triangular support for two or more steps is provided. The vertical uprights of the device carry a handgrip positioned well above the level of the highest step to be useful when a person is on the highest step and during ascent and descent of the steps. |

A step stool comprising a base having a top surface adapted to be located upwardly from the ground; an aperture through the top surface; an elongated support; a platform on the support, the support being movable longitudinally through the aperture between a collapsed position in which the platform lies on the top surface and an extended position in which the platform is spaced upwardly from the top surface; and engagement means on the support operative to engage the surround of the aperture on one side of the aperture with the support bearing against the surround of the aperture on the opposite side of the aperture, to retain the support in its extended position against downward force exerted on the platform. |

A step ladder/chair combination comprises a first and second spaced apart step and seat platforms which are supported from a first pair of parallel legs pivotally interconnected to the platform and a second pair of parallel legs are pivoted to the seat. The second legs include lower ends or feet which are movable outwardly away from the feet on the first pair of legs to an expanded condition wherein the step ladder/chair assumes a self-supporting, standing position on a floor or other surface ready for use. The step ladder/chair also includes a third pair of parallel legs which are parallel to the first legs and extend upwardly above the chair platform to support a back rest. The third legs are pivotally connected to the step and seat platforms. Short linkages are provided to pivotally interconnect the second and third legs and thereby limit the relative pivotal movement of the second legs relative to the first legs so that the step ladder/chair may be maintained in a collapsed or folded position for storage and the like occupying a minimum space or when pivoted outwardly to an expanded or self-supporting standing position may be used as a seat or a step ladder. |

Cross members join the legs of each of two pairs of four spaced legs to each other. Step members join the cross members to each other. The step members include an uppermost step member joining the uppermost cross members to each other. A table member is hingedly affixed to the uppermost step member in a manner whereby the table member is positionable in substantially coplanar relation with the uppermost step member on the uppermost cross members to provide a table top and is positionable in substantially juxtaposed relation with the table member resting on the uppermost step member and providing the uppermost step of a step ladder including the other step members. A magazine rack is mounted under the step members.

A two-step stool, with a base having three-step areas and mounting a top formed with a single step area and three substantially vertical legs spaced one from the other to provide feet-receiving apertures aligned with the step area on the base. A seat is carried by the top for movement between a position housed just beneath the single step and a position covering the single step area to permit the user to sit on the stool without getting dirty from the single step area. Three wheels, which facilitate movement of the stool about the floor, retract into the base when weight is applied to the stool to permit a bumper disposed about the lower edge of the base to rest upon the floor and minimize slippage when the stool is in use.
