A seat cup seal for a valve includes a base portion and a nipple portion projecting outwardly from the base portion. The nipple portion and said base portion define a blind bore about a longitudinal axis that opens in the base portion. The nipple portion defines a transverse end wall at an outermost end relative to the base that is adapted for sealingly engaging an associated valve seat. A flexible shoulder portion interconnects the base portion and the nipple portion so that said nipple portion is selectively movable between a first, relaxed position where the transverse end wall is spaced a first distance from the base and a second, retracted position where the transverse end wall is spaced a second distance from the base, with the second distance being less than the first distance. A plurality of biasing ribs projects outwardly from and extending between the base portion and the nipple portion. The biasing ribs, which are conformed in one of several suitable arrangements, bias or urge the nipple portion toward the first position when it is in its second position. In this manner, the seat cup does not require a coil spring or other separate biasing agent to urge the transverse end wall into sealing engagement with the associated valve seat.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely conduct waterproof cutoff repair works easily by using a permeable waterproof agent interrupting a leak path forming a water repellent and water insoluble substance by reacting with a calcium component or the like. SOLUTION: A required number of boreholes H are bored so as to cross with leak paths L from a concrete surface 1a, and packings 12 are compressed in the axial direction and stuck fast on the internal surfaces of the boreholes H by inserting plugs 10 into the boreholes H and screwing nipple-like joints 15 to the nozzle members 1 of the plugs 10. A waterproof agent feeder is connected to the nipple-like joints 15 and a liquefied or suspension-like permeable waterproof agent 4 is injected into closed spaces S in the boreholes H sealed by the packings 12. The injected permeable waterproof agent 4 permeates from the closed spaces S to the leak paths L and cures, and cutoff properties are manifested. COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
166 | Horizontal well treating method | US12001955 | 2007-12-12 | US07980299B1 | 2011-07-19 | Matthew C. Manulik |
Method of treating, especially, horizontally deviated wellbores where various treating solutions such as, acids, slurries, proppants, fracturing fluids, flushing fluids, or sealants are transferred into an annulus formed by a casing in the well and a working string. The working string has a seal member providing a sliding seal with the casing, a perforated nipple above the seal, and a check valve above the perforated nipple for preventing back flow through the working string to the surface. The working string has a seal element at the wellhead to avoid treating solutions leaking from the annulus out the wellhead. Treating solution of the desired make-up is pumped into the annulus, through the perforated nipple, down the working string, along the horizontal deviated wellbore, then into the strata or formation through a dispersing tool for the particular treating solution. The method provides a decrease in head loss, and if the working string uses a solid rod of lesser diameter than the remainder of the working string the head loss is further minimized. The apertures in the perforated nipple may be selected according to the requirements of the treating solution being pumped into the formation.
